Deep within the mesmerizing rolling fields, dwelt a young shepherd. His existence was essentially unadulterated, simple, and honest. His only responsibility was to care for his herd of sheep.

The boy chuckled at the confusion on their faces. This trick persisted for a few days more. However, one day, a real wolf did charge at the grazing sheep. The shepherd boy dashed for aid screaming “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one came.

Frustrated and alone, the boy battled against check here the wolf but could protect only few of his sheep. Devastated, he returned to the village only to be met with a reprimand on honesty and the results of false alarms.

The tale of this shepherd boy has been handed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the importance of honesty, the implications of dishonesty and the perils of crying wolf. Moreover, it highlights how trust once lost, is difficult to earn back. It's a story as pertinent today as it was then.
